Barossa Valley Chocolate Company will donate 100% of the profitsof their Benni the Barossa Koala from Friday 10 January to Sunday 12 January to Adelaide Koala Rescue who are working around the clock rescuing and nursing back to health koalas that have been injured or displaced by the Adelaide Hills Cudlee Creek bushfire.
Barossa Valley Chocolate Company Marketing Director, Sandy Day said, “I have had a special place in my heart for koalas my whole life, and we are immensely saddened by the devastation the bushfires have had not only on the community, but the gorgeous animals that live within it.
“From Friday until Sunday, we encourage everyone who visits the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company to buy a Benni the Barossa Koala where all the profits will go directly to Adelaide Koala Rescue and the incredible work they do,” Sandy concluded.
Adelaide Koala Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation and charity that runs a free koala rescue and rehabilitation service for the South Australian community. Their small team bears the burden of paying for all the out of pocket veterinary expenses that caring for sick and injured animals comes with and since the fires it has been tenfold.
Adelaide Koala Rescue Founder, Jane Brister said, “We are working 24/7 doing everything we can to save koalas and other wildlife during these difficult times. It has been great that we are receiving messages of support and donations.”
Currently Adelaide Koala Rescue have transformed Paradise Primary School’s gym into a koala rescue, with more than 100 koalas being tended to by volunteers.
The recently opened sister company of Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, the Fleurieu Chocolate Company, located within the quaint and newly-renovated Vineyard Road Cellar Door at Langhorne Creek, will also be donating all the profits of their mascot, Franki the Fleurieu Koala, to Adelaide Koala Rescue.
Barossa Valley Chocolate Company has been teamed up with Adelaide Koala Rescue since September, donating 50c from every sale of Benni the Barossa Koala to the charity.
