Our Story

The Barossa Valley Chocolate Company was created with one vision: to be a place where families, friends and visitors of all ages could come together to enjoy artisanal chocolate and family-friendly food in the heart of the Barossa.

Framed by a vineyard and lakeside setting, that vision has come to life in our chocolate shop, café, gelateria and welcoming spaces designed for people to gather, celebrate and savour life’s sweetest moments.

In September 2025, our Cellar Door closed its chapter here in Tanunda, making way for more fun ahead. At the same time, Benni’s Café transformed into Benni’s of Barossa — bringing playful energy, decadent desserts and a fresh, fun vibe. Expansion is also underway, with the addition of house-made jams, sauces and a beautiful gifting range — perfect for taking a little piece of the Barossa home or styling your picnic rug or dessert board.

Chocolate Production Kitchen – watch our chocolatiers at work through 14 metres of viewing windows.

Chocolate Shop – explore our handmade creations, many exclusive to our Tanunda store.

Gelateria – indulge in over 16 flavours of gelati and sorbet, also spun into our signature milkshakes.

Café / Benni’s of Barossa – enjoy lunch, coffee, cake or dessert with vineyard and water views.

Tasting & Pairing Plates – discover the perfect match of chocolate with wine, beer and other Barossa flavours.

Fun Vibes – the former Cellar Door space has been reimagined for more chocolatey fun and games. Currently open for special events such as Father’s Day weekend and the school holidays

Chocolate Workshops – hands-on chocolate fun for both adults and children, with popular school holiday workshops hosted in our private room.

Private Functions & Event Spaces – host celebrations, corporate gatherings or special occasions in our stunning vineyard and lakeside setting.

Stunning Outdoor Space – relax on the lawns overlooking our lake and vineyards, home to the magical Barossa Outdoor Cinema from October to April each year.

Our Chocolate

We specialise in hand-crafted sustainably-sourced couverture Milk, Dark, White and Ruby Chocolate made on-site in the Barossa Valley.

Many of our trusted suppliers have been producing quality chocolate ingredients for years and helped establish the Cocoa Horizons project that helps improves the lives of cocoa farmers and their communities.

Our single origin chocolates are sourced from Tanzania, Ecuador, Ghana, Mexico, Venezuala and Australia's only locally-grown chocolate from Daintree, Queensland.

Our Home in Tanunda

Our 1200m2 facility is custom-built on a vineyard, with visitors being able to enjoy our man-made lake and vineyard views.

Inside is our Chocolate Production Kitchen, Chocolate Retail Shop, Gelateria and Cafe with Indoor and Deck dining.

Our facility was built with the environment in mind, with solar panels, waste water management and energy saving protocols featured throughout the design.
